"In the years 1967 - 1974 I glean a few treasures often quiet rooms on the outskirts of Verdon. I often heard people describe the bridge Aiguines as the "Roman Bridge". Later in the 90s I wrote the commentary of the film "Memoirs of a village" in designating the bridge as a Roman bridge. The first edition was published as VHS tapes. In 2004 I took the original movie into a DVD and I have not changed much in the commentary. At no time prior to the official public release and the DVD, my attention was attracted by the old and new inhabitants of rooms on the expression of the "Roman Bridge" which appears several times in the comments ... In 2006, when I read the study by Guy Barruol "From shore to shore
the other, "I discovered it was a bridge from medieval times."
The texts below are quotes from Mr. Guy Barruol archaeologist, and are taken from the book: "From one bank to another" pages 103 and 104.
"Located at crossing Verdon and Moustiers between Aiguines
near the western exit of the gorge, the bridge is now said Aiguines drowned beneath the waters of Lake St. Croix, but remains at the bottom of the lake "

But there was an ancient bridge on which Mr. Guy Barruol gives a comprehensive review. Here is a small excerpt:
"" Remains of this ancient bridge at Level Crossing Verdon by the Roman road between Sisteron to Frejus Laugh, route further demonstrated by a text of Cicero 43 BC. AD by the card Peutinger by a series of milestones spread over time of Augustus to Aurelian and sections of roadway. The portion was located precisely at the eastern entrance of the gorge Baudinard at the confluence of Verdon and the stream from the resurgence of the Bishop Fontaine, a site now deeply embedded (since 1973) in the artificial lake of Sainte Croix , as were at the same time the medieval bridges modern and located slightly upstream: Sambuc bridges, and of Garruby Aiguines. The remains of the ancient work today are actually embedded directly below the bridge serving the RD 111/71 involving Holy Cross (04) to Bauduen (83), near the dam. North and south of this gorge, the ancient road leading to the bridge was established and crossed some progress ledge of the cliff in dramatic passages carved into the rock (width: 3.80 m). In the book, which allowed the road to cross the Verdon in a particularly favorable because tightened between two cliffs of the gorge, there was, at the time of research and excavations on the site in 1968, a battery, probably the most southerly, near the left bank abutment, the latter, which could then be released, would build on the cliff at the level of a large rock shelter.
